What is a digicam filter?

A digicam filter makes a modern phone photo look like it was taken on a small digital camera from the 2000s. Those pocket cameras had tiny CCD sensors, a built-in flash right next to the lens and simple in-camera processing, so their photos share a recognizable look: bright direct flash with dark backgrounds, punchy or slightly off color, visible noise, lower resolution and an orange LCD date stamp in the corner.

This digital camera filter rebuilds each of those traits separately — flash falloff, color shift, grain, vignette, lens fringing, resolution and the seven-segment date — so the result looks like a real snapshot instead of a generic retro overlay.

FAQ

What is a digicam filter?+

It is a photo effect that recreates the look of 2000s pocket digital cameras: direct flash, CCD noise, color shifts, lower resolution and an orange date stamp.

Is it free?+

Yes. All canvas filters are free and unlimited with no account. AI mode gives you one free try without signing up, and 3 free credits when you create an account (free results carry a small watermark). Invite a friend and you both get 3 more credits.

Is this a lens filter for my camera?+

No — it's a photo effect that works on existing photos in your browser.

Will the AI change my face?+

AI mode is instructed to keep your face, features, age and body exactly as they are and only change light, color and texture. If a result changes your face, try again — failed or refused generations are never charged.

Do you keep my photos?+

Free filters never upload anything. AI uploads and results are deleted automatically within 24 hours.

Does it work on phones?+

Yes, in any modern mobile browser on iOS or Android. No app to install.

Free mode vs. AI mode — what's the difference?+

Free mode applies a fast, deterministic filter on your device. AI mode uses an image model to relight the whole scene, for example adding real direct-flash shadows or red-eye.

How do AI credits work?+

One credit is one AI image at 1K. A 2K image costs 2 credits and the premium model costs 3. The 4-frame photo booth charges per generated image. If the AI refuses or fails, you are not charged.

Do credits expire?+

Credit packs are valid for 12 months. Plan credits arrive every month and unused ones roll over for one more month.
